Back in the ‘80s, one of the most popular cartoons on TV was G.I. Joe. Young boys watched in anticipation how the American special mission force would defend the world against the attack of Cobra. It’s been almost two decades since the last airing of the cartoon series, yet G.I. Joe fans still love to keep the memories of their childhood alive. Take a trip down memory lane by looking at the most memorable GI Joe characters. See if your favorite is included in the list.

1. Snake Eyes

Snake Eyes, the only ninja in the GI Joe team, is one of the most popular GI Joe characters. Wearing a metal visor and a black attire, Snake Eyes uses his trademark ninja sword and uzi against the enemies.

2. Scarlett

Scarlett is the first woman in the GI Joe team and one of the leading GI Joe characters. A great martial artist and lawyer, Scarlett uses a crossbow as her weapon.

3. Duke

The first sergeant and field leader for the GI Joe members, Duke is an original GI Joe member and a valuable asset to the team. Duke spearheads the fight against Cobra and other opponents.

4. Gung Ho

Gung Ho is a Cajun Marine who dons the coolest military uniforms. And oh, his chest has a cool tattoo on it.

5. Hawk

With a long experience in the military, Hawk leads the GI Joe team and plans ways to defeat Cobra. His military expertise works well in the GI Joe team as he helps take down Cobra several times.

    Yeah, these are all cool, but for me, the best thing about Halloween costumes is the idea that it can all be really cheap and cheerful; free and easy. Despite being someone who loves trying on all the best-made Halloween goodies and going crazy with life-like latex scars and what not, despite spending afternoons of trying on endless varieties of the perfect scary mask and despite marvelling over the genius of Jackson’s Thriller video at least once a month, I love the make-shift, home-made costumes much more. Ghosts dressed in white bedsheets always get my vote and tomato ketchup stains to create fake blood are even better. Bring back those mothers who tell us that wearing a bin liner turns you into a witch! Get creative and have some fun! That’s what costumes are all about!?
